Student Visa for Brazil

Documentation and Portuguese for your legal stay in Brazil

Student Visa for Brazil (VITEM IV)

If you wish to study Portuguese at Fala Aí for a long period, we can provide the necessary documents to apply for a student visa in Brazil at the local consulate or embassy before you arrive in Brazil, or at the Federal Police here in Rio de Janeiro.

As you can imagine, this involves a bureaucratic process that can take some time. Therefore, we recommend that you only go through this process if you plan to stay in Brazil for more than 90 days and do not intend to travel to Brazil in the coming weeks. For shorter periods, we recommend entering the country on a tourist visa.

If you wish to study Portuguese in Brazil, the student visa is the best option to legally remain in the country during your course.

Fala Aí Portuguese for Foreigners can help you in this process, providing all the necessary documentation for the visa application at the Brazilian consulate in your country.

How the process works

1. Check the requirements

Contact the Brazilian consulate or embassy in your country to find out what documents are required, as they may vary by country. For applications made in Brazil, also consult the Federal Police website.

Consult Federal Police guidance

Define the course, start date, and duration of your studies with our team.

4. Receive your enrollment letter

We send the enrollment letter digitally. If you need the physical letter, there is a shipping cost.

5. Apply for the visa

With the documents in hand, apply for the visa at the Brazilian consulate in your country or at the Federal Police in Rio de Janeiro, São Paulo, or Florianópolis.

6. Registration in Brazil

After arriving in Brazil, you will have up to 30 days to register your visa with the Federal Police.

Important attention

Candidates from countries facing humanitarian crises, armed conflicts, civil wars, or significant social instability may encounter greater rigor in consular analysis.

In these cases, it is common for the Brazilian consulate not to accept only the school's enrollment letter as sufficient justification, which can considerably increase the chances of visa denial.

We recommend that these candidates carefully check the specific requirements with the consulate before starting the process. Depending on the situation, it may be more appropriate to seek another institution or consider another type of visa.

Visa renewal

Renewal is done directly in Brazil and may have different rules from the initial process. Our team can guide you on the necessary documents, but the process is carried out with the Federal Police.
